Community support has been vital for the success of the share offer. Residents, relatives and friends of Burton in Lonsdale will benefit directly from having a vital amenity preserved for future generations, both through the use of the facility itself but also because The Punch Bowl Inn will play a part in making the village and surrounding areas a stronger, more vibrant and cohesive community in which to live. A traditional welcoming pub with rooms will benefit tourists visiting and staying in the area, as well as walking  and cycling groups, as the village is ideally placed for these activities.

​HMRC has provided Advance Assurance that the community purchase of the Punch Bowl is eligible for the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) and the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS). These are UK government initiatives that encourage investment in small and early-stage startup businesses by offering generous tax relief to individual investors who are UK income taxpayers and buy initial shares in a Company or Society such as ours.

Advance Assurance is not a guarantee but is issued by HMRC in response to a detailed application to indicate the likelihood that the share offer will qualify.
